Change the World. It’s What Rhonda Joiner Does.
Special education teacher Rhonda Joiner has been dedicated to the field of education for 26 years. She loves her students and has a great rapport with their parents.
Rhonda cares about the future of her students, and she has worked to design a curriculum from which she teaches her students basic engineering and entrepreneurial skills. During the pandemic when schools were closed, Rhonda was concerned about the continuity of learning for her students. To supplement their at-home education, she used her own money to purchase lessons and had them delivered to her students at home. Her care isn’t limited to their education – Rhonda makes sure her students have what they need, whether it’s warm winter gear for cold weather or food to eat.
Rhonda is especially dedicated to her students with autism, and she often speaks publicly to community groups about embracing autism. “Love, understanding, a smile, a hug – whatever it takes. Autism acceptance matters,” says Rhonda.
